Avril Lavigne At The Movies
Scream Queen Avril Lavigne at the movies? Well kinda... get the details inside.
MTV Films looks like to captialise on the popularity of newcomer punk
wannabe Ms. Avril Lavigne as they currently plan to produce a new film based
on her hit single "Sk8er Boi" set for next year.
Having enjoyed astounding worldwide success with her debut album, "Let Go";
there's no stopping the teenage star as she follows in the footsteps of
Britney Spears and Mandy Moore. With the plot based on her second hit
second, it looks set to be a romantic comedy with possibly a more edgy take
on the story.
As the song goes... the plot will follow the romance between a skater boy
who pines for the ever Miss Popular at school who coincidentally is into
ballet and has friends with high standards. Although the girl has feelings
for the skate kid as well, she shuns his affections but regrets it horribly
when she discovers he becomes a big rock star five years on.
There's no confirmation whether Avril will star in it herself considering
the song dictates that she would play the smaller part of the love triangle,
nor is there any inkling that she will be tottering around in her underwear
(like Ms. Spears) if any Avril fans are interested. Either way, the script
seems like in maybe left in good hands as David Zabel, the screenwriter
behind TV series Dark Angel has taken interest in scribing the love story.
Any brat pack fans will agree that it sounds a little too much like John
Hughes' Some kind of Wonderful, which starred Lea Thompson, Mary
Stuart Masterson and Eric Stolz. But without such a director attached,
there's a long way yet before we're set for something of such calibre or
something more along the lines of Cross Roads. Regardless - Avril
Lavigne is pretty cool with us so we'll be keeping up to date with this one
as we find out.
