Ocean's 12: Sequel Details
Clooney, Roberts, Pitt, and Garcia sign on to Ocean's 11 sequel. Trust Soderberg to be the man with the plan. Details inside.
It's a very, very rare
occasion when a remake of a film is so perfectly encapsulated in its
nouveau presentation, performance and soundtrack; that somehow asking for
more seems ludicrous, almost greedy in its request. Almost the unthinkable
has happened... There is going to be a sequel to a remake called Ocean's
Twelve!
The first one was clearly such a hoot for the core of the cast and crew.
Not only are the film's director and biggest stars back for a second chance
at the hand, but fans of the original (or is that the remake?) will even be
treated to an all new storyline!
The A-list cast will be taking salary cut again, as the director behind
Erin Brockovich and Traffic woos his cast into preparing for
a new heist story... Including the fabulous Julia Roberts (Tess), who will
take a more hands-on role this time as Danny Ocean's twelfth member.
George Clooney (Danny), Brad Pitt (Rusty), Andy Garcia (Terry) and Bernie
Mac (Frank) have all confirmed to reprise their roles, though Matt Damon
and Don Cheadle are still undecided. Kikizo reckons it would be a shame if
they didn't considering the subtle comedy performances and one-liners they
sweetly delivered in the first film.
Apparently the projects' script has sat patiently in Warner Bros. offices
for quite a while and was also originally penned by the screenwriter of
the O11 remake, Ted Griffin. Named "Honour Among Thieves" with John Woo's
direction in mind for the screenplay, Griffin was brought in again to adapt
the story mechanics to the existing character profiles of the O12 crew and
their backstory.
The premise at present takes its odds out of Vegas to head off to bet on a
grittier backdrop of Europe: London, Rome and Berlin to be precise. Having
done one over on Garcia (Terry) at the Bellagio casino with his girlfriend
in the first film; he sets his sites on following the gang over and begins
plotting their fall.
Production has yet to start and the sequel isn't slated until a Q4 2004
release, but we're actually keeping our ears to the ground on this one.
We're expecting the same calibre of awesome story-telling, script-writing
and cooler than 'jazz beats on a Sunday afternoon' cool in the first film.
We'll be rolling out more info and pics as soon as we get out hands on it.
