Weinstein Gives Miramax the Boot?
Harvey Weinstein looks set to walk out on Miramax because of reputed tension between the company and Disney.
One of Hollywood's biggest players, Harvey Weinstein, looks set to walk out on Miramax because of reputed tension between the company and Disney. The Tinseltown bigwig has recently clashed heads with the creators of Mickey Mouse over the distribution of Michael Moore's documentary, Fahrenheit 9/11. Weinstein and Disney head, Michael Eisner, don't quite see things eye-to-eye and it now looks like they will part company.
Over the past year Harvey Weinstein has hit the headlines quite a lot. He had Hollywood whipped into a frenzy when it was decided that Tarantino's Kill Bill would be split into two separate volumes. His publicity continued to soar when he was involved in a dispute with Disney over Fahrenheit 9/11, arguments look set to continue about the film after it was revealed that Disney would be donating their proceeds of the documentary to charity.
There has been plenty of speculation as to what the future holds for Weinstein: some sources claim that he may try purchasing MGM with Pixar's Steve Jobs, while others think he will set up his own production company and still distribute them through Miramax. Whatever he decides to do, one thing is certain - we definitely haven't seen the last of Harvey Weinstein.
