Transformers to Hit Big Screen
Dreamworks to bring robots in disguise to big screen in live action form, not animated.
Plans are afoot to bring the Transformers to the big screen; however the Robots in Disguise are set for the live action treatment rather than their previous incarnations as cartoon features.
Steven Spielberg's production company, Dreamworks, are behind the project and it is hoped that the Transformers will be reaching cinemas in time for the summer of 2006. The toy company responsible for creating the worldwide phenomenon back in 1984, Hasbro, have been retained as consultants for the project and it is hoped that the current renaissance the Transformers are going through with the new animated series will carry over to box office success.
Spielberg will be the executive producer of the project and currently there is plenty of speculation as to which Hollywood stars will be involved with the project. The names currently being linked with the film include Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, both renowned for their voice acting work.
