More on the Way From Moore
Fahrenheit 9/11 Director on next project.
Michael Moore looks to set to build upon the success of his previous two documentaries by securing the funding for his latest project which is aptly titled Sicko.
The controversial filmmaker's latest work is a critique of health maintenance organisations and follows on from a segment in his The Awful Truth television show where he staged a mock funeral at a HMO after a patient was denied a life-saving transplant. The patient eventually received a transplant after all the publicity the segment has raised and the new documentary looks set to highlight other inadequacies in the health system.
Despite the mounting bad press Moore has received for what Republicans are deeming a personal tirade against President Bush, it looks like the almighty dollar has spoken and his latest project should easily secure the backers it requires.
Moore's current documentary, Fahrenheit 9/11, only cosy six million USD to make but has already pulled in one hundred million USD at the box office. Whatever the public's personal feelings are on his subject matter, it seems financiers are more than happy to let him express his feelings because Moore's projects are quickly becoming synonymous with profit.
