Bond Update: Pressure Mounting Fast
Shooting starts in six months time, but the project has yet to obtain a final script, director or a lead actor.
Pressure is beginning to reach boiling point in the Bond camp as the mounting speculation begins to come to a head. Pierce Brosnan came out last week to distance himself from 007 and effectively announced his retirement leading to a swirl of rumours as to who will be next to step into the famous black tuxedo.
Variety has reported that the latest instalment in the Bond franchise is due to begin shooting in six months time, but the project has yet to obtain a final script, director or a lead actor. The 007 camp seem to be in turmoil at the moment as there is yet to be any clarification on the future direction of the franchise, this has lead to numerous parties speculating on possible avenues they may wish to explore.
One thing that seems to be certain is that the next instalment will mark a crucial stage in the Bond series; despite Die Another Day's commercial success, critics were less than pleased with what they say as a special effects laden movie. MGM are even said to be considering making films based on a teenage Bond in the future, a new series of books based on the superspy's adolescent years are due to be released in the autumn.
