Jude Law effectively ruled out?
The race to find the next 007 is heating up with Pierce Brosnan finally ruled out of the ruling. Brosnan stirred up the debate by nominating Colin Farrell for the role, but the Irish bad boy quickly distanced himself from the famous black tuxedo.
Bookmakers are almost positive that the next actor to play James Bond will be a Scot, with Ewan McGregor and Dougray Scott the favourites for the part. 007 fans will be pleased since it is generally regarded that their countryman, Sean Connery, gave the best portrayal of Ian Fleming's superspy.
Jude Law had previously been in the running, but the disappointing performance of Alfie at the box office has effectively ruled him out. The Bond producers desperately need a hit for their next instalment of the franchise and don't appear to be taking any risks. They even want to instate Martin Campbell, director of Goldeneye, as the man in charge of the next project, hoping that he will bring his Midas touch back to the series.
