The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is the latest film from Wes Anderson, the director of The Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore.
The movie marks a more commercial effort from one of the most renowned scriptwriter/directors in Hollywood at the moment. It comes as no surprise then that all the major players in Tinseltown were clamouring for a part in the aquatic adventure.
Bill Murray heads the cast and is supported by Owen Wilson, Anjelica Huston, Cate Blanchett, William Dafoe, Michael Gambon and Jeff Goldblum. Fans of Anderson's previous work will note a few familiar faces, but will be disappointed to hear Wilson did not contribute to the script due to previous engagements.
The film's storyline revolves around Steve Zissou (Bill Murray), an oceanographer who plans to track down a shark that killed his partner. He is joined on his underwater adventure by his estranged wife (Huston), a man that may or may not be his son (Wilson) and a investigative reporter (Blanchett).
The band of oddball characters display the quirky relationships Anderson's films are famous for and it's not long before you'll be chuckling in your seat. Be sure to catch this flick as soon as it hits screens in your area.
The film is released in NY/LA on December 10 and US Nationwide on Christmas Day. In the UK, it's released on February 18. Don't miss the clips from the film below.
