X-Men director, Brian Singer, has signed up to take the helm of the Superman project after McG dropped out last week. The previous director attached to the project dropped out due to budgetary issues and concerns about the shooting location, but Singer has quickly been snapped up to dispel fears about the ill-fated movie.
Rumours have gathered pace in recent times about the return of the 'Curse of Superman' due to the amount of problems associated with the new screen adaptation, the film has seen a string of directors go by the wayside and many of Hollywood's leading men are reluctant to appear in the famous red cape.
Superman fans should breathe a sigh of relief however as Singer has a proven track record with superhero films having been responsible for X-Men and X-2. The director is also responsible for the cult classic The Usual Suspects and if he can bring the same type of pedigree associated with his previous projects to this one, then we should be in for a treat when Superman is finally released.
There is no word on who will be cast in the leading role yet, but it looks increasingly likely that the film will be shot in Australia and the previous script will be reworked. Many fans had been concerned about the reported storyline due to it's straying from the original tale, but those fears should now be put at ease as Singer is a fan of the comic book series. We've got our fingers crossed here at Kikizo that the project won't suffer any more mishaps and we can't wait to see it when it's finally released.
